Jason Whitlock didn’t waste any time targeting Atlanta Dream’s Angel Reese after her offensive stumble against the Indiana Fever on Sunday. The outspoken analyst used the Dream’s overtime loss to deliver a harsh assessment of Reese’s place in Caitlin Clark debates.

Angel had a game marred with offensive blunders, including missing a crucial game-winner, and Whitlock wasn’t all too kind to her for it.

Jason Whitlock Goes at Angel Reese for Wanting ‘Caitlin Clark Level’ Attention

The latest chapter of the Clark-Reese rivalry shifted to a new setting this season after the latter’s offseason move to Atlanta, and their latest clash lived up to the billing.

Despite a double-double from Reese, the production was overshadowed by an error in the closing moments of the game, costing Dream the chance to win.

Addressing the game, Whitlock did not see why Reese was still in conversations surrounding CC, as he believes the latter has surpassed the former by quite a margin.

Calling out Reese for her poor play and seemingly ‘attention-seeking’ ways, Whitlock said:

“Her lack of offensive skill set next to Clark’s is a hatchet chopping at her reputation. People delight in Reese’s failures. Not all of that delight is pure. Some of it is ugly… tribal. A lot of it is earned on the tape.”

This is in reference to Reese missing a potentially game-winning wide-open layup on the fastbreak, bricking a three from the top of the key that Clark didn’t even bother contesting.

With the score tied at 81-81, the Dream forward got the ball underneath the basket with less than four seconds left in regulation. Despite being as close to the basket as anyone could be, Reese missed the layup.

Naz Hillmon got the rebound but missed her shot as well.

The game went into OT, and the Dream lost 95-91. Clark dropped 26 points and 9 assists while Reese had 15 points and 14 rebounds.

“Clark’s game produces offense that bends scouting reports and ticket lines. Reese’s game produces boards and vibes, and then when the paint shrinks, a finishing package that turns national TV into a stand-up routine,” Whitlock continued.

Reese is a top-tier talent in the WNBA for defensive and offensive rebounding, with a career average of 12.6 rebounds per game.

However, Clark’s recent production has swung the momentum in Indiana’s favor and propelled the Fever star into the MVP debate: A stark contrast to Reese’s Dream, who will try to regain their momentum when they take on A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday.
