Who says that you can’t dream big?
If you let J.K. Dobbins tell it, he has lofty goals for himself for the 2026 NFL season. Dobbins believes that he will stay healthy and lead the league in rushing this fall.
“I know a lot of people always say, ‘Oh, he’s good for the first 10 weeks.’ Like, I’ll be in the top three (in rushing) for the first 10 weeks, right? And they’ll be like, ‘Dude, he does this every time,'” Dobbins said early in training camp. “Well, this year, forget a top three. I’ll keep saying it. People think I’m crazy — but I’m going to be No. 1. And I’m going to keep it there for the whole year, 17 games.”
Well, Pro Football Talk discussed Dobbins and his ambition. Mike Florio isn’t entirely mad at his thought, but he isn’t confident that Dobbins will stay healthy. Chris Simms also had the same sentiment, but he doesn’t trust that Dobbins will get over his injury hump.
To be fair, Dobbins' injury history seems to back up PFT’s apprehension. Dobbins missed all of 2021, half of 2022 and nearly all of 2023 (played one game) due to injury. He also missed seven games last season due to injury. So we can’t be mad at PFT’s concerns, but you also can’t be mad at Dobbins' belief in himself. To check out the full clip, click below.
