PITTSBURGH — The Pirates have added a fresh arm to their bullpen as right-hander Antwone Kelly has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.
Kelly, now in his fourth stint with the Pirates this season, is 0-0 with a 6.14 ERA in three appearances out of the bullpen. The 22-year-old rookie has allowed five runs on eight hits with four walks and four strikeouts in 7.1 innings in the big leagues.
The rest of Kelly’s 2026 season has been spent with Indianapolis. In 21 appearances/15 starts at Triple-A, he’s gone 5-5 with a 4.09 ERA.
To make room for Kelly on the active roster, the Pirates optioned right-hander Isaac Mattson to Indianapolis. Mattson allowed a run in two innings in Pittsburgh’s loss to Detroit on Monday night. In 37 appearances for the Pirates this season, the 31-year-old is 0-0 with a 4.91 ERA.
