The NHL offseason featured significant changes, highlighted by key signings and major trades, with several teams embarking on new journeys under fresh coaching staffs. The Eastern Conference divisions are expected to be competitive, presenting a clean start for all teams.

The Hurricanes won the Metropolitan Division last year; the Sabers won the Atlantic. Here are the predictions for who will lead each Eastern Conference team in scoring.

Sebastian Aho, Carolina Hurricanes: Sebastian Aho is ready for another season of dominance. Much of the team is back, and he should be right in the mix at the top for point leader.

Zach Werenski, Columbus Blue Jackets: There were rumors in the offseason that Werenski may get dealt, but he is here to stay. Another big season from one of the best offensive defensemen in the league.

Jack Hughes, New Jersey Devils: Jack Hughes is due for a big season as the injury bug has gotten to him. If he stays healthy, he should have a monster season for the Devils.

Matthew Schaefer, New York Islanders: Schaefer played in every game, and he is one of the best offensive defensemen in the league. With his talent, he can take over this Islanders team and be their leading scorer.

Mika Zibanejad, New York Rangers: Mika has playmakers around him and could be in for a big season. Their power play will be improved with the addition of Pavel Dorofeyev, and Zibanejad has a cannon for one-timers.

Trevor Zegras, Philadelphia Flyers: Zegras is one of the best at being crafty on the ice. He picked up 41 assists this season, and there is another gear he can go to. He played very well this year, and the Flyers need him to have a big year.

Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins: Sidney Crosby, at his age, is pure dominance. He still puts up very good numbers and helped the Penguins get into the playoffs last year.

Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals: Last season for Ovechkin, and he is going to give it everything he has. Final year for the Great 8.

David Pastrnak, Boston Bruins: Pastrnak scores goals at an elite rate, and the Bruins still have a good core to compete with, and Pastrnak helps.

Tage Thompson , Buffalo Sabres: The Sabres had lots of good memories, and Thompson was super strong for them last season.

Dylan Larkin, Detroit Red Wings: Larkin is most likely staying with Detroit, and he could be in for a strong year if he stays. Patrick Kane departs, so there is more weight on Larkin’s shoulders now.

Sam Reinhart, Florida Panthers: Reinhart scores lots of goals, and with players coming back from injury, Reinhart will be the freshest. Lots of talent for Florida, and Reinhart takes this one.

Cole Caufield, Montreal Canadiens: Caufield finished with 51 shots and was a major factor in the regular season, and he could potentially be a 60-goal scorer if he continues to play well.

Tim Stuzle, Ottawa Senators: Brady Tkachuk is heading to Florida, and the Senators need someone to be their top point producer. Stuzle finished at the top last season and is expected to do it again.

Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay Lightning: Kucherov does everything at a high level and should be their top producer. Elite in so many ways.

Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs: Matthews is due for a strong season after last year being disappointing. The Leafs should be better this upcoming season, and Matthews will play a big part after suffering a leg injury.
