Las Vegas Raiders rookie running back Mike Washington Jr. played well in the team’s preseason opener against the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday. Washington was the primary running back for Las Vegas in their 27-14 loss to Arizona, and showed promise in the ground game.
Washington recorded six carries for 63 rushing yards against the Cardinals. He had a big 53-yard rush midway through the second quarter after cutting up the middle and breaking two tackles for the gain.

The Raiders’ rookie ball-carrier looked promising on the game, despite only averaging two yards per carry on his other five attempts. Washington used his size and speed well, which is what the Raiders will need from him as the backup to Ashton Jeanty next season.
Though he was not a factor in the receiving game against Arizona, he provided the Raiders with play that showed signs of exactly what he’s expected to give the team in 2026. More preseason action figures to serve him well moving forward.
