The New York Rangers have added multiple new players to their roster this off-season. Among the Rangers' newcomers is forward Oliver Bjorkstrand, as they signed the 31-year-old forward to a one-year, $4.5 million contract back on July 1. The Rangers' decision to bring in Bjorkstrand is understandable. They need another skilled winger in their top nine, and the 2013 third-round pick will provide them with just that. Bjorkstrand is coming off a bit of a down season in 2025-26, though. In 80 games last season with the Tampa Bay Lightning, he posted 12 goals and 32 points. These numbers were lower than expected from the 31-year-old, but when looking at his resume, there is clear reason to believe that he could bounce back for New York this upcoming campaign.
Before the 2025-26 season, Bjorkstrand scored at least 20 goals in six out of his previous seven seasons. The only time he did not hit the 20-goal mark over that span was in 2020-21 with the Seattle Kraken. However, it is important to note that he played only 56 games that year due to the 2020-21 campaign being a shortened season. With this, the possibility of Bjorkstrand turning things around this season with the Rangers should not be ruled out. He should be put in a position to succeed with the Blueshirts, and it will be intriguing to see what kind of campaign he can put together from here.
