The Baltimore Ravens activated second-year linebacker Teddye Buchanan from the physically unable to perform list on Saturday, exactly eight months after he suffered a torn ACL that ended his 2025 season.

Buchanan, 23, tore his ACL in Week 15 of the 2025 regular season, prematurely ending a promising rookie campaign. The fourth-round pick emerged as Roquan Smith’s running made in the middle of the Ravens defense in Week 2 and racked up 93 tackles before his injury in Week 15, the second-most on the team at the time. At the end of the season, Buchanan was named to the PFWA All-Rookie team alongside Browns linebacker and Defensive Rookie of the Year Carson Schwesinger.

2023 third-round pick Trenton Simpson took over the No. 2 inside linebacker job after Buchanan’s injury. He remained in that role through spring practices into training camp with the potential to earn regular-season playing time pending his teammate’s return. But Buchanan’s recovery has gone smoothly with general manager Eric DeCosta putting it in the “top 1% of rehab” that he has seen in Baltimore.

Buchanan began training camp on the PUP list, but he could be seen doing conditioning work on a side field during a handful of the Ravens’ practices. After today’s activation, the team has a month to get Buchanan ready for their regular-season opener against the Colts. A Week 1 debut is certainly in play, barring any setbacks, but Baltimore will likely be cautious with their young linebacker’s ramp-up to ensure he can stay healthy for the entire season.

In a corresponding move, the Ravens placed offensive tackle Kendall Lamm on the reserve/retired list, ending his 11-year career less than two weeks after signing in Baltimore. Oddly, this is the second veteran OT to retire shortly after joining the team this year. Hakeem Adeniji signed just at the end of July and retired after just one week of training camp.

The Ravens may now look for another veteran to add depth at tackle, specifically on the right side. 2025 fifth-round pick Carson Vinson is backing up Ronnie Stanley on the blind side, but the situation behind starting right tackle Roger Rosengarten is less clear.

2024 third-round pick Emery Jones started at right tackle for three years at LSU, but he has primarily played guard since arriving in Baltimore. A minor injury to left guard John Simpson will likely keep Jones on the interior during the preseason, though offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford previously indicated that he could back up the right tackle spot, too.

The Ravens’ other in-house right tackle options are 2025 UDFA Gerad Lichtenhan and undrafted rookie Diego Pounds, neither of whom have stood out in training camp thus far. Available free agents include Cam Robinson, Jonah Williams, and Jack Conklin, among others.
