The Baltimore Ravens added some much-needed offensive tackle depth by reuniting with veteran David Sharpe on Tuesday, per the NFL’s daily personnel notice.
The Ravens sat starting right tackle Roger Rosengarten for Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, a trend that will almost certainly continue for their next two preseason matchups. As a result, second-year UDFA Gerad Licthenhan played all 80 snaps, a sizable workload compared to his rotational practice reps during training camp. He held up exceptionally well, allowing zero pressures on 42 pass-blocking opportunities and finishing with a 71.5 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, the second-highest among Baltimore’s offensive linemen.
However, such heavy usage has its risks. The Ravens do not have another true right tackle on their roster, so an injury to Lictenhan would threaten their ability to get through the preseason. (Emery Jones started at right tackle for three years at LSU, so he could line up there in a pinch, but he has primarily played guard since being drafted in 2024.) Lichtenhan could even be on the cusp of making the 53-man roster as Baltimore’s backup right tackle, in which case the team has even more reason to keep him healthy.
Sharpe, 30, has enough experience to take snaps at right tackle right away. He spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons on the Ravens’ practice squad as the team navigated the fallout of Ronnie Stanley’s 2020 ankle injury. He appeared in three games in 2021 with all 67 of his offensive snaps coming at right tackle, per PFF. Since leaving Baltimore during 2023 roster cuts, he has spent time with the Panthers, Texans, Jets, Chargers, and Steelers, but played just one offensive snap in Carolina in 2023.
Sharpe worked out for the Ravens on Monday along with former Hawaii offensive tackle Luke Felix-Fualalo, a 2025 UDFA who spent his rookie year on the Eagles’ practice squad. Baltimore also hosted linebackers Milo Eifler and Devin Harper for tryouts with Jay Higgins and Carl Jones currently sidelined and Teddye Buchanan still ramping up after his activation from the PUP list. .
In a corresponding move to Sharpe’s signing, the Ravens waived safety Jahquez Robinson with an injury designation. The undrafted rookie missed the last week of practice with an undisclosed injury and did not appear in Saturday’s game vs. Philadelphia.
