Real Madrid have decided not to unveil neither José Mourinho nor this summer’s signings and will host a private event behind closed doors where the players and their families will meet with president Florentino Pérez, according to a report from MARCA.
That way, the club will not hold an introductory press conference for Mourinho or the six signings ahead of Saturday’s season opener against Espanyol. The coaching staff and the board believe that the focus should be on that match and that way the players and even Mourinho will be able to avoid the media attention that comes with those press conferences.
Real Madrid will return to training on Tuesday, as they had Monday off following their victory over Schalke in the last preseason game. They will begin preparations for Saturday’s away match against Espanyol, who beat Levante 3-0 on their own season opener this weekend.
