Real Madrid youth prodigy’s potential move to French club falls through – report

As is the case almost every summer, a number of Real Madrid reserve and youth team players have left the club and more could be on their way out.

On that note, Jacobo Ortega was expected to become the latest La Fabrica product leaving the club for more regular opportunities elsewhere.

The youngster was even linked with a move to RC Strasbourg, who were expected to complete the deal soon.

According to Rodra P as revealed on the live stream of Ruben Martin Web, Strasbourg’s interest in Jacobo Ortega has fallen through and the move is unlikely to proceed further.

That is a massive blow for young Ortega, who was hoping to join the Ligue 1 outfit in an attempt to get more play-time at the highest level of football.

Strasbourg were expected to pay Real Madrid a fee of around €8 million for 50% of the player’s rights, meaning Los Blancos would have had the luxury to bring the player back at a fraction of the cost.

This is the same strategy Real Madrid have employed with most of their sales from the younger division, as evidenced in deals involving Jacobo Ramon or Nico Paz.

What’s next for Ortega?

It is unclear whether Real Madrid’s push to retain 50% of the player’s rights led to Strasbourg losing interest in the deal, but Ortega should have no shortage of suitors.

There are still three weeks remaining before the transfer market comes to a close, meaning the youngster has ample time to find himself a new club.

As far as his prospects at Real Madrid are concerned, it is unlikely he will continue at the club as the team is very clear about their plans for the season ahead.

Real Madrid will continue to back experienced players and new signings rather than trying out young talents from La Fabrica. Jacobo Ortega, unfortunately, is just another victim of this approach.

It now remains to be seen whether or not Ortega can find a new suitor in the coming weeks.
