Having won the women’s singles title at the National Bank Open, Iga Swiatek sent a powerful message to fans, and even those who hate her.

Iga Swiatek lifted her first title of 2026 with a win against Elena Rybakina in the final of the National Bank Open. This was a huge moment ahead of the US Open for the 25-year-old.

Swiatek is currently ranked at No. 8 in the world, which is fairly low. Considering that she has six major titles to her name, it’s been a rough year for the Pole.

Winning the Canadian Open must have been a major relief. Her doubters have increased, too, and this hasn’t gone unnoticed by Swiatek herself.

Iga Swiatek admits past few months ‘weren’t easy’, dedicates win to people facing hate

For athletes who are underperforming, the hate on social media can become difficult to ignore. Swiatek is not an exception to this.

Following her victory in the tournament, she dedicated her win to those who are going through tough times and facing criticism themselves.

“It means so so much to me. These past months were not easy,” Swiatek said. “I’m really happy I kept focusing on growing, changing my game a little bit, improving.

“Despite all the opinions many people have about me every day on the internet. It’s not easy to deal with all of that. I’m happy the reality is different. The reality is that I have people that support me.

“I want to dedicate this title to anyone who’s dealing with unfair judgement and hate. Just keep pushing and keep growing. Keep focusing on yourself. Always remember what’s ahead and what might be possible.”

These are inspirational words from the four-time Roland Garros champion, and it is evident that she has been waiting for her moment. She will be hoping she can ride this momentum into a US Open triumph as well.
