Gabriel Jesus to Napoli latest as Arsenal weigh summer exit

Napoli are in discussions over a possible move for Gabriel Jesus, with Arsenal open to assessing a deal if the conditions align for all parties. According to Fichajes, the Italian club have already established the framework of what would be required, although there is no final agreement in place at this stage.

The situation remains live rather than advanced. Napoli’s interest is genuine and the 29-year-old Arsenal forward is a name under active consideration as they reshape their attacking options. The key detail is that any move still depends on movement elsewhere in the Serie A club’s squad, alongside progress on personal terms with the player.

Napoli transfer talks gather pace

From Napoli’s perspective, Gabriel Jesus offers the sort of tactical flexibility clubs value in a demanding season. He can lead the line, drift across the front three and operate in support areas, which makes him an attractive option as they look to refresh their attack after Romelu Lukaku’s departure.

That said, this is a transfer that appears subject to practical limitations rather than a lack of desire. Napoli need to create further room before they can push decisively, both in squad terms and financially. Lukaku’s exit has helped, but it has not fully cleared the way for another attacking arrival of this scale.

Reports indicate Arsenal would consider a sale in the region of €20 million. In the current market, that valuation places Gabriel Jesus in a bracket where interest from top-level European clubs is understandable, especially for a player with Premier League pedigree and experience at elite clubs.

Arsenal squad planning shapes Gabriel Jesus decision

For Arsenal, this is part of a wider attacking recalibration. Gabriel Jesus remains under contract until July 2027, so there is no urgency from a contractual standpoint. Even so, his standing in the squad has clearly shifted amid increasing competition and the arrival of Viktor Gyokeres.

The Brazil international has had periods of importance in north London since joining from Manchester City in 2022, yet injuries, particularly around his knee, have affected rhythm and continuity. Over 83 appearances for Arsenal, he has scored 20 goals, numbers that only tell part of the story but still frame the conversation around his role.

Internally, Arsenal are balancing several factors. They must decide whether retaining Gabriel Jesus as depth is more valuable than sanctioning a sale now, especially if they believe his pathway to regular starts has narrowed. Clubs competing at the top end of the Premier League require depth, but they also need clarity over hierarchy and wage allocation.

Personal terms could prove decisive

One of the most significant elements in this potential deal is expected to be the player’s contract package. Napoli may be able to meet Arsenal’s expectations on a transfer fee if departures materialise, but personal terms can often become the defining hurdle in transactions of this kind.

Gabriel Jesus’s current salary at Arsenal is understood to be among the considerations that need resolving. That does not end Napoli’s hopes, but it does mean the process may take time and may remain dependent on a sequence of outgoing deals before anything concrete is concluded.

Names such as Noa Lang and Lorenzo Lucca have been linked with possible movement as Napoli continue to shape their plans. If those exits or other adjustments happen, their pursuit of Gabriel Jesus could move from exploratory talks to something more substantive.

Gabriel Jesus future remains open

At present, the most accurate reading is that Gabriel Jesus’s future remains open. Napoli are interested, Arsenal are prepared to listen, and the player’s situation has become one to watch in this transfer window. None of that guarantees a transfer, but it does create the conditions for one if the remaining pieces fall into place.

Arsenal’s final call will likely be informed by the broader make-up of Mikel Arteta’s attack and whether trimming numbers is seen as a priority before the window closes. Napoli, meanwhile, know what the deal could look like, but must first solve internal squad issues before they can turn interest into an agreement.

Our View

From an Arsenal perspective, this report feels believable because it fits where Gabriel Jesus now sits in the squad. There is still admiration for what he brought when he first arrived, especially his intensity, movement and ability to connect the attack. He helped lift standards. Even so, football moves quickly, and Arsenal’s frontline now looks like an area where hierarchy is changing.

If there is a serious chance to bring in around €20 million for a player who has struggled for sustained availability, many fans would probably understand the logic. That is not about dismissing his quality. It is about whether Arsenal can continue carrying expensive depth in positions where there are now other options and greater competition.

The key question for supporters is what happens next if he goes. Selling Gabriel Jesus only makes sense if Arsenal are fully comfortable with the depth chart and with the physical reliability of the alternatives across a long season. If the club believe Gyokeres and the rest of the attacking group can absorb those minutes, then a sale could be sensible business.

There would still be some regret. On his day, Jesus brings urgency and intelligence that few forwards replicate. But if Napoli can make the numbers work and the player wants a fresh challenge, this may be one of those moves that suits everyone, Arsenal included.
