(L-R) Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer, chief marketing officer Rouven Kasper and chief sports officer Max Eberl attend a press conference. The Bundesliga club is on a summer tour of Asia as part of its pre-season preparations. Christian Kunz/dpa Germany giants Bayern Munich are planning to sell shares in their professional football stock corporation and are expected to receive around €250 million ($289.2 million) in return, the Münchner Merkur/tz newspaper said. According to the report, the holding company Viessmann plans to acquire a 5% stake in the corporation, which the Bavarians are still permitted to sell under its statutes. The club refused to make a comment when asked dpa about the matter. According to the Bild newspaper, however, the potential buyer is not Bayern's current platinum partner, Viessmann Climate Solutions, but rather the Viessmann Generations Group. Its CEO Max Viessmann has been a member of the club's administrative advisory board since earlier this year. When asked about the report at the presentation of new signing Ismael Saibari, board member for sport Max Eberl said he was "pretty far away from that right now." Such negotiations are the responsibility of the parent club and president Herbert Hainer, he added. Viessmann is a traditional company from Hesse that many sports fans know primarily through sponsorship, such as in biathlon, luge or Nordic skiing. Its heating-technology business was sold in 2023 to the US group Carrier and continues as Viessmann Climate Solutions, which remains a partner of winter sports athletes. Since 2018, Viessmann has also partnered with Bayern and expanded this cooperation further in the years that followed. Alongside the club as the main shareholder (75%), Adidas, Audi and Allianz each currently hold 8.33% of FC Bayern Muenchen AG. Honorary president Uli Hoeness said in a podcast in late 2025 that the club is allowed to sell a maximum of 30% of the shares in the stock corporation without involving the members.
