RB Leipzig are internally discussing the potential signing of forward Said El Mala from Bundesliga rivals Cologne, the Bild newspaper and broadcaster Sky said on Monday.
Leipzig are looking for a new offensive player after the departure of Yan Diomande to Real Madrid. They were initially interested in Hoffenheim's Fisnik Asllani, but the transfer didn't go on due to health concerns.
Leipzig didn't comment about the El Mala speculation.
The Cologne talent was recently linked to a transfer to Borussia Dortmund. However, they abandoned the race to sign the player due to the high transfer fee.
Cologne are reportedly demanding €50 million ($57.9 million) for the player, who has a contract until 2030.
El Mala had his breakthrough in the past season, with 13 goals and five assists in 34 Bundesliga games, and generated big interest from other clubs.
