Tottenham Transfer News: Cody Gakpo Interest Remains Live as Savinho Talks Progress

Tottenham are pushing ahead with plans to strengthen in attack, with Cody Gakpo and Savinho both under active consideration as Roberto De Zerbi shapes his squad for the new season. Credit to Caught Offside, whose original report outlines a situation that looks fluid, multi-layered and heavily dependent on movement elsewhere.

The key line is a significant one, “Spurs are actively working on both” deals. That points to a club trying to keep more than one avenue open rather than waiting for a single negotiation to define its window. Savinho appears the more advanced opportunity at this stage, with indications that the Manchester City winger has made his preference clear and that progress is being made.

Gakpo is a different type of discussion altogether. Tottenham’s interest is genuine, but Liverpool’s stance is more conditional. The report explains that the Netherlands international could be available after a difficult period at Anfield, though any serious opening may depend on Liverpool bringing in reinforcements first, namely Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye.

Gakpo Transfer Depends on Liverpool Movement

From Tottenham’s perspective, this is where the situation becomes delicate. Liverpool are not in a rush to weaken their attacking depth before replacements are secured. As outlined in the report, “they don’t want to commit to that sale” while uncertainty remains over incoming business out wide.

Barcola, in particular, appears central to the wider picture. Liverpool’s pursuit is described as complicated and expensive, with “no guarantee at this stage that it goes through.” Even so, there is a growing sense that if progress is eventually made, then Gakpo’s path out could become clearer.

That helps explain why Spurs are monitoring developments rather than accelerating immediately. Internally, this looks like a waiting game for the right signal, effectively a green light from Merseyside once Liverpool feel adequately covered.

Savinho Talks Offer Spurs a Faster Route

While Gakpo remains attractive, Savinho currently looks like the more realistic near-term deal. Tottenham need pace, directness and another genuine threat in the final third, and the Brazilian would tick several boxes. The fact he has reportedly informed Manchester City that he wants the move naturally strengthens Spurs’ hand.

It is also notable that Tottenham are still committing energy to both pursuits. As the report states, “Tottenham are keen on both Savinho and Gakpo,” underlining the scale of the club’s ambition in forward areas. That could reflect a desire to add depth and variety, not simply one marquee option.

Competition and Price Still Matter

There are other variables. Newcastle United are said to admire Gakpo, though that track has stalled because of the 27-year-old’s valuation. Bayern Munich, previously interested, have not revived their pursuit. There is mention too of “interest from other Premier League clubs,” though without firm detail.

For Spurs, that leaves a clear message. Gakpo remains on the radar, Savinho is moving more quickly, and De Zerbi wants attacking upgrades before the campaign begins. For now, north London waits on Liverpool’s next step.

Our View

From a Tottenham angle, this report feels encouraging because it suggests the club are finally acting with real purpose in the market. If “Spurs are actively working on both”, that is exactly what fans want to hear. Too often windows become dominated by hesitation, but this sounds more like a club trying to create options and move decisively when the moment arrives.

Gakpo would be an exciting signing. He has played at a very high level, he can cover multiple positions across the front line and there is every chance a fresh start could bring out his best football again. If Liverpool are genuinely open to a sale once replacements arrive, Spurs should be ready to strike. A player of that quality does not become available often.

Savinho, though, may be the one that really gets supporters dreaming. He brings unpredictability, speed and the kind of one v one quality Tottenham have needed more consistently. If De Zerbi wants greater dynamism in wide areas, this move makes a lot of sense.

The ideal outcome for Spurs fans would be obvious, land both. That would transform the front line and give Tottenham the depth required to compete across a full season. Even if only one arrives, the key is that the club seem serious. Supporters can accept complexity in the market, they just want to see conviction. This report suggests there is some, and that alone makes it worth watching closely.
