Angel Reese missed quite a few ‘gimme’ buckets in Sunday’s game against the Indiana Fever. It was her final miss in regulation, underneath the basket, that sent the game to OT, and ATL eventually lost 95-91.
The WNBA world clowned on Reese quite a bit throughout the game for a series of blunders and misses.
Angel Reese Gets Roasted for Her Repeated Misses Vs the Fever
While Angel’s stat line of 15 points and 14 rebounds doesn’t look so shoddy when reading it off, her play was marred with mistakes and misses.
WNBA fans and X users alike took to the platform to go off on her play tonight.
“She’s ridiculously AWFUL,” wrote one user who responded to a sarcastic ‘Swish’ post from Dave Portnoy, who put up a clip of Reese bricking a three.
Portnoy then posted another clip of Reese missing an uncontested layup in transition. He captioned it, “To be fair Angel’s game has never been shooting 3’s. It’s always been her post game that pays the bills.”
One Real Madrid fan dipped their toes in the WNBA world and posted, “She is a PR creation to counter Caitlin. Flops, and goes to the line to stat pad.”
Another user shared the sentiment and said, “She is so one dimensional. Has to watch herself dribble. Can’t shoot, her running ability is poor. A creation of the press. nothing more. Most of her rebounds are because she has to plant herself somewhere.”
“I’ve never seen someone pushed this hard with near zero basketball skills,” said a user who agreed with Jason Whitlock’s claim of the WNBA trying to force Reese onto fans.
It wasn’t all hate, however, when it came to today. Despite her missing a layup to win the game at the end of regulation, a few fans took to X to show their support for the Dream star.
“What she brings to the floor is tough to replace. She’s one of the best rebounders in the league and her physicality down low is elite. She’s one of the best players in the league,” said one person.
In response to Jason Whitlock’s hateful tweets toward Reese, one user said, “Good lord they have gone overboard trying to convince us Jason Whitlock is relevant. Stop it.”
Another fan used stats to back their support for Reese and said, “Only player to average double digit rebounds in league history. What is your excuse?” Her career average is 12 rebounds a night.
One fan admitted that Reese isn’t the most “aesthetically pleasing player” but went on to call her “effective.”
Reese has been subjected to a whirlwind of hate and subsequent support ever since she entered the league in 2024, but hasn’t let any of the noise dim her performances.
While her play may be questionable in terms of offensive effectiveness, she’s one of the league’s biggest stars.
With the loss, however, the Dream dropped to a 21-13 record before their matchup against the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday.
