Detroit — Tigers All-Star outfielder Riley Greene, on the injured list with a strained right hamstring, will be spending the first seven days of his rehab at the team's’ facility in Lakeland, Fla.
“It’s just better suited for what he needs,” manager AJ Hinch said Friday, before the opener of a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park.
Also, Tigers physical therapist Duncan Evans is stationed in Lakeland.
Hinch said Greene could rejoin the team on the upcoming road trip, possibly in Kansas City.
He’s not eligible to come off the injured list until Aug. 22. Greene left Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians with the injury and was placed on the injured list Wednesday.
