NORTH AUGUSTA — The Charleston RiverDogs were limited to just six hits in their 7-2 loss to the Augusta GreenJackets on Aug. 13 at SRP Park.

The GreenJackets opened scoring in the bottom of the second, pushing across four two-out runs, capped by a two-run homer from Junior Tillien.

The RiverDogs (62-48, 25-19 second half) provided a quick response in the top of the third when Angel Mateo lifted a solo shot to left to cut the deficit to 4-1. Including his time with High-A Bowling Green, he has blasted six longballs this year.

Despite the tricky second inning, Aidan Haugh kept Charleston within reach, tossing five innings and fanning six. In the process, he earned his 100th strikeout of the season, becoming the second RiverDogs (Dominic Fritton) and sixth Carolina League hurler to reach the threshold.

Augusta starter Davis Polo was stellar, delivering 6.2 innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts.

The GreenJackets (58-51, 23-20) tacked on four more in the bottom of the seventh to push their lead to 7-1.

In the top of the eighth, Cooper Flemming lined an RBI single to right to bring home Slater de Brun and cap scoring at 7-2.

Overall, the GreenJackets were aggressive on the base paths, stealing six bases, marking the fifth time this year that Charleston has allowed that many in a game.

Coming up

The two return to the ballpark Friday for the Game 4 of the series. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. with coverage beginning at 6:50 on the RiverDogs Broadcast Network.
