
NORTH AUGUSTA — The Charleston RiverDogs split their doubleheader with the Augusta GreenJackets, taking the opener 4-3 before dropping the nightcap 3-0 on Aug. 15 at SRP Park.
The RiverDogs moved to 2-1-3 In doubleheaders in the process.
In Game 1, Augusta jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, highlighted by a two-run double from Cooper McMurray.
Starter Jacob Kuhn settled in from there, completing four innings with a career-high six strikeouts.
The RiverDogs (63-50, 26-21 second half) got on the board in the top of the third when Yirer Garcia grounded out to short, bringing home a run and cutting the deficit to two.
With two outs, Slater de Brun drew an 11-pitch walk and stole second before Andreimi Antunez lined an RBI single to center to make it a one-run game.
Charleston evened the score in the top of the fifth when Taitn Gray pounded an RBI single to center.
The RiverDogs took their first lead with two outs in the seventh, when Antunez scored from third on a wild pitch to make it 4-3.
Miguel Toscano was stellar in relief, tossing three perfect innings to slam the door and earn the victory. Across his first two outings of his Single-A career, Toscano has retired 21 consecutive batters.
In Game 2, Augusta (59-52, 24-21) opened the scoring in the bottom of the third when Caden Merrit belted a solo shot to left.
After both sides traded scoreless frames through the fourth, the GreenJackets tacked on two more two more in the fifth to cap scoring at 3-0.
GreenJackets starter Luis Arestigueta was stellar, delivering six shutout innings while fanning seven.

The two return to the ballpark tomorrow for the series finale. First pitch is slated for 5:05 p.m. with coverage beginning at 4:50 on the RiverDogs Broadcast Network.
