One Arizona Cardinals star is catching a lot of heat from fans for an extravagant purchase they made for their girlfriend.
JeremiyahLove was the third overall pick in this year’s draft, with the Cardinals bringing in the talented running back to bolster their offense.
But Love is already making headlines before the season starts, and it’s not for his performances during the Cardinals’ training camp.
Jeremiyah Love receives fan backlash for giving girlfriend $300K Lamborghini
According to the New York Post, Jeremiyah Love bought his girlfriend a $300,000 Lamborghini as a gift. The Cardinals rookie’s girlfriend shared the gift on a recent TikTok.
Immediately, many fans questioned why Love would make such an extravagant purchase for his girlfriend before he has even played an NFL game.
One fan joked, “In 2037 he’ll be on The Pivot telling us that $7.5 million a year ain’t enough to survive.”
Another fan added to the laughs, noting, “Somebody commented, ‘Rookie Mistake’ GET IT?!!”
A third fan brought up Love’s earlier comments after getting drafted, saying, “Wasn’t he just saying after being drafted that he’s not touching the money?”
“Two months ago, I read where he was going to save his entire contract and live off his college NIL money,” wrote a fourth fan echoing the previous point.
A fifth fan added, “And you wonder why 50% of NFL players are broke 10 years out.”
And lastly, one fan issued a stern warning, noting, “I don’t ever wanna hear a player or agent b——- about money. This is the kinda s— where fans will turn on players in a heartbeat.”
Fans are being very harsh on Love for what seems to be a purchase he made as a gift for his loved one, but some of it does stem from concern.
We have seen many athletes in the past be fiscally irresponsible when they come into a large amount of money, only to find themselves struggling financially later in their lives.
Love himself had promised to put in the money he makes from his $53 million contract with the Cardinals into investments and live off of his NIL earnings.
So to see him spend a huge chunk of money on a gift for his partner does raise some red flags. But at the end of the day, Love is an adult capable of making his own decisions.
No matter how fans feel about it, he is entitled to make the decisions he wants to and to embrace any consequences that come with the decision.
