A trio of injuries and four largely underwhelming performances on home soil were hardly what either Pulisic or the USMNT would have wanted from the Pennsylvanian this summer, en route to a Round of 16 exit, but unfortunately that's exactly what transpired. A calf injury forced him off at halftime in their opening game and sidelined him for their second group game, after which Pulisic returned only to suffer a bone bruise and microfracture in his leg in their 4-1 defeat to Belgium in the Round of 16.

Thankfully for Pulisic, who led Milan in scoring during the 2024-2025 season but was dealt multiple injury blows in their most recent campaign, Amorim is clearly high on the American’s potential within his system. “Pulisic is a really talented player,” Amorim said, via SBI Soccer. “Of course, he had an injury again in the World Cup that we need to assess…I know the strengths of Pulisic. I believe in him; he will be supported in our club.” “I know he had some criticism after the World Cup elimination, but I am here to say we believe a lot in him, have a clear plan to use all the qualities that he has, so I can say to you that Pulisic is really important for us.” To listen to the latest episode of 'All Out Soccer' - CLICK HERE At his best, Pulisic has, at times, been capable of carrying a sub-par Milan side in recent years, scoring 42 goals and adding 27 assists in 134 games since joining from Chelsea in 2023. In both of his first two seasons in Italy, Pulisic made 50 appearances across all competitions, scoring 15 goals in 2023/2024 and 17 in 2024/2025. Unfortunately, the injuries came back to haunt Pulisic last season, limiting him to 34 appearances and 10 goals, seeing out a full 90 minutes just three times in 2026, all whilst failing to find the back of the net. Despite 2026 having proved rough for Pulisic so far, Amorim appears optimistic, commenting, “I have a clear idea of where I want him [Pulisic] to play. Especially with the right foot on the left side, it is the perfect position for him. He can play the other side also, inside too and not on the line.” Milan has one friendly remaining this preseason before they can focus fully on their Serie A opener against Torino on August 23 - a trip to Poland where they will face Amorim’s former side United in Wroclaw on Saturday.
