Rutgers Athletics has announced its 2026 Hall of Fame class, with four former Rutgers athletes selected for the honor. These four include Kahleah Copper, a former Rutgers women’s basketball star; Amy Lewis, a former field hockey standout; Gabrielle Farquharson, a former Rutgers track and field star; and Steve Rammel, a Rutgers men’s soccer standout.

Kahleah Copper

Copper was a second-team All-Big Ten selection two times during her tenure on the banks and led the team in scoring three times over that span. She finished her collegiate career with 1,872 points, ranking third on Rutgers’ all-time scoring list behind Sue Wicks and Cappie Pondexter. During her senior season, Copper posted double-digit points in all but four games and recorded 11 double-doubles. Copper left Rutgers and became a star in the WNBA, earning WNBA All-Star status five times, being named WNBA Finals MVP, and being named to the 2024 All-WNBA Second Team.

Amy Lewis

Lewis graduated from Rutgers as the field hockey program’s all-time leader in both goals and points, recording 71 goals, 17 assists and 159 points over her career. Her standout season in 2008 included honors such as being named a second-team All-American and Big East Offensive Player of the Year.

Gabrielle Farquharson

Farquharson’s trophy case is full of different accolades she earned while at Rutgers. She was a seven time all-American, earning one first-team nod, five second-team nods, and one honorable mention selection. She was Rutgers first ever Big Ten champion, achieving the feat three times in her career and once when Rutgers was in the American Conference as well. She has 10 total conference medals, four of which are gold, and set nine school records during her time in Piscataway.

Steve Rammel

Rammel played a major role in two back to back college cup final four runs in 1989 and 1990, with his 1990 season being one of the best in program history. That season, Rammel scored 17 goals, was a runner-up for the Hermann Award, and was named the 1990 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year. Despite only playing at Rutgers for two years, he is ninth in scoring with 84 points in the Rutgers record book. Rammel also made a name for himself in the MLS, being the first player in MLS history to record a hat trick. He also spent some time in the coaching circuit as an assistant coach at UCLA, head coach at Saint Mary’s, and an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Galaxy.
