Saints get brutal update on Jordyn Tyson on new hamstring injury originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The New Orleans Saints extended Chris Olave to a long-term contract this offseason and drafted Jordyn Tyson in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. While both have shaky injury histories, when healthy, they should form an incredible duo. Unfortunately, before they even got a chance to play together in the regular season, there is already a seemingly serious injury for Tyson due to a hamstring problem. ESPN's Katherine Terrell reports that Tyson will miss some time due to a hamstring injury, and it could even "linger" into the regular season. Jordyn Tyson's hamstring injury could 'linger' into Week 1 "Saints rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson has a right hamstring issue and will miss time, according to Saints coach Kellen Moore," Terrell reports. "Moore said that he's not going to estimate a timetable for Tyson's return yet, but when asked about the regular season, he said 'it could' potentially linger into Week 1." Tyson's hamstring injury is already a concerning one for the Saints, but hearing from Kellen Moore that there's a chance this issue lasts into the regular season is especially worrying. It's an unfortunate reality that the Saints and Tyson now have to deal with, as his hamstring injury seems to be a bit more severe after landing awkwardly during a recent joint practice against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 22-year-old WR, drafted at No. 8 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft out of Arizona State, has flashed some incredible potential during his collegiate career. MORE: Cowboys QB Dak Prescott projected by ESPN to be behind Lions QB Jared Goff for HOF chance But he's also missed a lot of time. Last season, he was out for a while, finishing with 711 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 61 catches in an abbreviated season. There were injury concerns about Tyson coming into the NFL Draft, but the upside is worth the risk. Unfortunately for the Saints, Tyson is already banged up, and it's some incredible bad luck. Tyson is now surely going to miss a few weeks of the preseason, and potentially all of it. For a rookie WR trying to mesh with his new QB and new offense in the NFL, it's a bit of a worrying start. With this update from Terrell and Moore, there isn't any clear timeline for Tyson to be ready to go after this hamstring injury. While it's too soon to rule him out for Week 1, Moore's commentary about this issue lingering into the regular season for Tyson is something the Saints, Shough, Moore, and the fans should worry about.
