The New Orleans Saints have moved on from young defensive tackle Keeshawn Silver. New Orleans waived Silver from injured reserve with an injury settlement on Monday, according to the NFL's transaction wire. The move allows Silver to become a free agent once the settlement terms are satisfied, rather than remaining on the Saints' injured reserve list. Waiving Silver with an injury settlement clears his spot from the Saints' injured reserve, which has added several names over the past couple of weeks: Bryan Bresee (ACL) and Dillon Radunz (ACL). It also gives the former North Carolina, Kentucky, and USC defensive tackle an opportunity to continue his career elsewhere once healthy. The Saints have made several adjustments to their defensive line throughout the summer as they sort through injuries and competition ahead of the regular season. Silver faced a crowded path toward earning a role, making his injury an especially difficult setback at this stage of the roster-building process. Free agents Brien Taylor Jr. and Khalil Saunders were signed since he and Bresee went down with injuries. New Orleans will continue trimming and reshaping its roster as the preseason progresses, with the team's defensive front among the position groups worth monitoring. Silver's departure is just another move as the Saints work toward their eventual 53-man roster. And now Silver, 24, can focus on his recovery before searching for his next NFL opportunity.
