Scottie Scheffler produced some simply sensational golf on day two of the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

World number one Scheffler looked much like his old self on Friday at TPC Southwind.

The 30-year-old made an incredible 11 birdies along with two bogeys to shoot a 61 on day two of the FedEx St. Jude.

Scheffler wasn’t entirely happy with his opening round at the FedEx St. Jude, and he made up for that substandard performance on day two.

The world number one is now in a great position to secure his second win of the season.

Scottie Scheffler asked what he’d like to improve after shooting 61 at FedEx St. Jude

Scheffler addressed the media after his second round at TPC Southwind on Friday afternoon.

The 20-time PGA Tour winner was asked whether there was anything he could have done better on day two in Memphis.

“I think in golf there are always little things you’re looking to improve on, but today is a day in which I’ll just go and get some rest now,“ he responded.

“Yeah I struck the ball nicely today and hopefully I’ll do more of that over the next couple of days.“

He was then asked what changed from Thursday when he struggled with his putting to Friday after he had 13 one-putts.

“I think it’s just golf. That’s really all it is,“ he replied.

“That’s why I talked about being patient yesterday because I felt like I played a little better than my score. It was nice to get out there early and knock in some putts and give myself some really good looks as well.“

Scottie Scheffler’s stats from day two at the FedEx St. Jude Championship

Every department of Scheffler’s game was in tip-top condition on Friday in Memphis.

The world number one ranked 23rd in strokes gained off the tee, after gaining 0.512 strokes on the field, and that was the worst part of his game!

Scheffler ranked 15th in strokes gained around the green, picking up 0.635 strokes on the field.

However, Scheffler made his score with his irons and his putter.

He ranked first in both categories, gaining 3.401 strokes on the field with his approach play and 3.760 strokes with his putter.

In total, Scottie Scheffler gained 8.333 strokes on the field on day two of the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

If he keeps that form up over the weekend, there will be no stopping him.
