A former star cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys has garnered some interest from the Seattle Seahawks.

The NFL’s transaction wire revealed on Tuesday that Trevon Diggs, who was once an All-Pro selection, was brought in for a tryout by the Seahawks. Diggs has been a free agent since he was released by the Green Bay Packers after two appearances for them in 2025.

Diggs was drafted in the second round by the Cowboys back in 2020. He made himself immediately familiar to Seahawks fans when he was burned by DK Metcalf, whose leisurely jog into the end zone was interrupted by Diggs’ hustle to force a fumble out of the end zone for a touchback.

Trevon had his breakthrough in 2021, recording a league-leading 11 interceptions on his way to All-Pro first-team honors. He made the Pro Bowl in 2022, but it’s been all downhill in terms of both performance and health for the younger brother of Stefon Diggs. A torn ACL ended his 2023 season after just two games, and he had another surgery on the same knee the following year.

In his final season with Dallas, Diggs missed considerable time due to non-football related concussion symptoms, and by December he was let go. A combination of declining performances and heightened tensions with the Cowboys organizations led to the breakup.

Diggs is only 27, but the injuries and lackluster showings (in coverage and tackling) are major reasons why he’s still unsigned through mid-August. It’d be very generous to assume there’s much left in the tank for him to even be serviceable depth at this point. Mike Macdonald is a great defensive mind but he can’t make Diggs’ knees any healthier.

That Diggs tried out for Seattle is relevant given the complications surrounding signing Terrion Arnold, who would be placed on the commissioner’s exempt list and wouldn’t be able to practice or play with Seattle until he’s off the list.
