- The Seattle Seahawks are defending their decision to sign Terrion Arnold
- The former Detroit Lions cornerback was arrested in June in connection with an armed robbery and kidnapping case
- Arnold, 23, played two seasons in Detroit, where he was drafted in the first round
The Seattle Seahawks are standing by their decision to sign Terrion Arnold, who faces eight felony counts in connection with a February armed robbery and kidnapping in Florida.
“I think it was an opportunity to bring on a player that we felt strongly about during the [2024] draft process, and we also understand that it’s a serious situation with a legal matter,” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters about Arnold, who faces four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery. “There’s a process behind it, so we respect that, and that’s how we’ll operate too.”
He continued, “We felt like we’ve done our due diligence. It’s just something that we, in terms of the legal situation, we just can’t make a comment on right now.”
Macdonald said he was encouraged about what the cornerback, 23, can add to the defending Super Bowl champs’ roster.
“There’s a really, really great opportunity that we think his skill set fits in our secondary,” he said. “Plays with a lot of energy, physicality.”

Shortly before the Lions announced they would release him, a judge set Arnold’s bail at $1 million and required him to stay home except for work and court appearances.
A standout at Alabama, Arnold was selected No. 24 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Across two seasons with the Lions, Arnold had seen limited action and played only eight games during the 2025 season after he suffered a concussion and shoulder injury.
