The Seattle Seahawks are headed back to the drawing board following their 17-7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in their first preseason game. It was not the best showing for the defending champs, but every team has plenty of rust to brush off at this point of the year. On Monday, the Seahawks made a trio of signings to their active roster.
Seattle signed linebacker Power Echols, wide receiver Julian Hicks and running back Anthony Hankerson. In order to make room for these three players, unfortunately, an equal number had to be removed. Running backs T.J. Harden and Justin Jones were waived, while cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles was placed on the injured reserve list.
Power Echols is back with the Seahawks after an exceedingly short stint with them earlier this month. Echols was signed on August 7th, and was waived the very next day. He spent his rookie season with the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans as a member of their practice squads. Echols spent all four seasons of his collegiate career with the North Carolina Tar Heels, recording 307 total tackles, two and a half sacks and snagged himself four interceptions.
As for Anthony Hankerson, he was a powerhouse for the Oregon State Beavers. During his two seasons in Corvallis, he was a force by rushing for 2,168 yards and 24 total touchdowns. He showcased what his talent level could truly bring after spending the first two years with minimal impact with Colorado. The fact Seattle is going after another running back could suggest they are still not content with their running back situation, as George Holani's 42 yards in the loss to Dallas may not have impressed them all that much.
Wide receiver Julian Hicks spent the last two seasons with the Green Bay Packers, mainly on their practice squad. Unsurprisingly, general manager John Schneider - who used to work for the Packers - still has a keen eye when it comes to their players and is giving Hicks a shot with Seattle.
