PolicyDriftSeahawks Work Out Former Cowboys All-Pro as Secondary Shopping Continues

The Seattle Seahawks have had a pretty eventful few days at cornerback, yet somehow, they're not done exploring their options quite yet. Seattle brought former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro cornerback.

The Seattle Seahawks have had a pretty eventful few days at cornerback, yet somehow, they're not done exploring their options quite yet. Seattle brought former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs in for a workout Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported. Yes ... that Trevon Diggs. The same ball-hawking corner who led the NFL with 11 interceptions in 2021, earned first-team All-Pro honors and made consecutive Pro Bowls during his time in Dallas. It's also the same Diggs that had a dramatic fall-off in Dallas which led to the Cowboys releasing him before their season finale back in December. Whether Diggs will ever become a member of the Seahawks is another question entirely. For now ... just like when the Arnold interest began ... all we know is Seattle brought him through the building for a look. But it's hard not to at least observe everything happening in the Seahawks' cornerback room right now. Seattle just made Devon Witherspoon the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history with a four-year, $132 million extension that included more than $101 million guaranteed. READ MORE: Seahawks' Terrion Arnold Signing Hits Delay, Major Decision Revealed The Seahawks also still intend to sign former Detroit Lions first-round pick Terrion Arnold, though NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that Arnold will be placed on the Commissioner's Exempt List once he signs. That will prevent him from practicing or playing while on the list. And now another former Pro Bowler has entered the picture. To be clear, there's nothing connecting Seattle's workout with Diggs to the developments surrounding Arnold, but there doesn't need to be. It's simply another example of the reigning Super Bowl champions continuing to explore what could be available to improve an already talented secondary. And Diggs is certainly an ... interesting ... name to explore.

READ MORE: Seahawks Vs. Cowboys Recap: What We Learned From Seattle's 17-7 Loss The 27-year-old hasn't replicated the production that once made him one of the NFL's biggest defensive playmakers. Injuries have played a major role. Diggs appeared in only two games in 2023 after suffering a torn ACL and played 11 games the following season. He then appeared in eight games for Dallas in 2025 before the Cowboys waived him in December. Green Bay claimed Diggs off waivers, and he appeared in the Packers' regular-season finale before being released in January. Diggs did not record an interception or pass breakup during the 2025 regular season. He also worked out for the Detroit Lions earlier this month yet remains a free agent. Now Seattle has gotten its own look. And maybe nothing comes of it. Maybe the Seahawks eventually decide another piece is worth adding to a secondary that already features Witherspoon, Nick Emmanwori and Julian Love. That's a conversation for another day if Seattle actually decides to sign him. For now, there's only one conclusion worth making: The Seahawks aren't done looking.
