Former Wisconsin Badgers offensive lineman Tyler Biadasz was carted off the field during the Los Angeles Chargers' joint practice with the 49ers on Aug. 18, marking the second former UW standout to suffer a potentially serious NFL training camp injury thus far this season. Biadasz went down when a 49ers player fell on his leg and stayed on the ground for nearly five minutes before getting helped off by a medical cart. The center signed a three-year deal worth up to $30 million with the Chargers before the season, after he was a surprising cut by the Washington Commanders. The one-time Pro Bowler with the Dallas Cowboys is entering his seventh NFL season.
Biadasz, from Amherst High School, was a fourth-round pick by the Cowboys in 2020. In a twist of cruel serendipity, former Badgers defensive lineman Matt Henningsen of the Denver Broncos – who was also lost last year in a joint practice against the 49ers with a torn Achilles – tore his Achilles again exactly one year to the date of last year's injury. The Aug. 7 practice injury will sideline the Menomonee Falls High School alumnus for all of 2026 in what will be his third straight year missed on account of injury. Henningsen played all 17 NFL games in 2022 and 2023 after the Broncos drafted him in the sixth round out of Wisconsin in 2022.
