The episode occurred at a residence in Sardinia where the 20-year-old Serie A star was taking time off after his team had clinched a Coppa Italia victory over Arezzo. Trepy, who allegedly does not know how to swim, was discovered in the pool's deepest section. Cagliari's roster received two days of rest following Friday's 1-0 win - a match in which Trepy featured for 53 minutes before being substituted, as per The Mirror.

Trepy made 24 appearances for Cagliari Primavera during that campaign, finding the net on 11 occasions.
