Shane Lowry has reflected on his 2026 PGA Tour season after his exit from the FedExCup Playoffs after the first event.

Lowry finished tied for 52nd at last week’s St Jude Championship, which was not enough to reach the BMW Championship.

The Irishman finished 62nd in the FedExCup standings when only the top 50 qualify for the second playoff event.

Lowry has explained the key reason for his difficult campaign and has looked ahead to his upcoming events on the DP World Tour.

Shane Lowry reflects on a ‘disappointing’ PGA Tour season

Shane Lowry admitted that his two final-round collapses at the start of 2026 affected his play for the rest of the season.

Lowry made a double bogey on the 72nd hole at the Dubai Invitational in January, gifting Nacho Elvira the victory.

Two months later, he blew a three-shot lead with three holes to play at the Cognizant Classic, and Nico Echavarria won the title.

Those results knocked Lowry’s confidence for the remainder of the PGA Tour season, but he is looking forward to a fresh start.

“End of a disappointing PGA Tour season. In truth, not winning early in the season hurt and lingered for several months afterwards,” Lowry wrote.

“I’m happy where my game is now and have an exciting part of my season ahead.

“A few weeks off now to prep for a run of DP World Tour events and the start of my Ryder Cup qualification campaign for Doonbeg.”

Lowry will play in the Irish Open and BMW PGA Championship next month before the Alfred Dunhill Links in October.

The 39-year-old will be looking to reach the DP World Tour Play-Offs in the UAE with strong performances in the coming weeks.
