Hamshaw, 44, was sacked as Millers manager in March after a year in charge. He started his playing career with the Owls and scored twice in 76 league appearances. "Matt arrives with the type of experience we were looking to add - he has been a serial winner in League One," sporting director Simon Wilson told the club website.
