It's no secret that the Los Angeles Dodgers have a commanding seven-game lead in the National League West, but is that good enough for a No. 1 ranking in MLB.com's power rankings?
Clearly, it is. Will Leitch is beyond impressed with what he's seen, and that comes immediately after this team just lost three of four games at home to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Milwaukee has the best record in all of baseball by a pair of games, and for whatever reason, they seem to have the Dodgers' number in the regular season.
LA holds a clear advantage over the Brewers in the postseason, but that's a conversation for a different time.
All in all, the Dodgers fell to 67-39 on Sunday, July 29, and after the results of a 6-2 loss on Sunday, Aug. 16, they sit at 74-51.
Despite winning just seven of their last 19 games, Leitch still believes the Dodgers are the best team in all of baseball.
Leitch ranks the Dodgers ahead of the Brewers
While the Brewers secured the season series win, that didn't make enough of an impact on Leitch to move the Dodgers down in his power rankings. With just six weeks left in the regular season, the Dodgers remain the No. 1 team in all of baseball.
Their record says otherwise, and performances from the likes of Kyle Tucker and Edwin Diaz would certainly disagree, but Leitch still believes no matter what, this Dodgers team is better than everyone else.
Keep in mind, the Dodgers have a +136 run differential, which is tied with the Brewers as the best in all of baseball. There are only four teams with a positive triple-digit run differential, and all four are in the National League.
The Dodgers have the fourth most runs scored in all of baseball, and they've also allowed the fourth fewest. According to ESPN, they have a 99.99% chance to make the playoffs, something that comes as absolutely no surprise.
The biggest question is, are they truly the best team in all of baseball? The Brewers just proved otherwise, or so we thought, but at the end of the day, none of these games truly matter until it's time for the postseason.
Manager Dave Roberts would disagree, as he now knows it's an uphill climb to erase the head-to-head tiebreaker, but ultimately, the Dodgers can only focus on themselves as they're on the hunt for a historic three-peat.
