EVANSVILLE — Stan Goaurd's seventh season at his alma mater now has a starting point. The University of Southern Indiana announced the non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2026-27 men's basketball season on Tuesday, Aug. 18. Among the highlights are two trips to Southeastern Conference opponents and three games against the Missouri Valley Conference. The former has the Screaming Eagles visit Texas in November and Vanderbilt in December. The Longhorns won 21 games last season and reached the Sweet Sixteen. The Commodores finished 11th in KenPom with 27 victories before bowing out in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. More: USI announces jersey patch agreement with Mt. Vernon-based company TCG The trio of MVC opponents are trips to Belmont (Nov. 2) and Indiana State (Dec. 6), in addition to the previously announced River City Classic against crosstown Evansville on Nov. 7 at Ford Center. The other notable matchup is a visit from former Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Bellarmine in December. USI has played the Knights once (a 71-69 win in Louisville two years ago) since making the jump to Division I. The Screaming Eagles were 7-23 last season and failed to the qualify for the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament for the second straight year. USI finished four games behind Eastern Illinois for the final spot at Ford Center. The roster once again saw considerable change during the offseason.
