Inter have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Djed Spence for €30 million, with the England international set to undergo a medical before an official announcement.
According to Sky Sport, the fee includes an additional €5 million in bonuses and a 10% clause on any future resale, with Spence poised to sign a contract running until 2031 worth €3 million net annually plus add-ons. Inter had been closing in on the right-back after days of negotiations that saw Tottenham’s asking price fall from an initial €45 million demand.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports the document exchange between the two clubs has been completed, with Spence expected in Milan on Friday and Saturday for the formalities. CalcioMercato adds the deal was finalised on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 12, following two days of intense talks, with Spence set to become the first major wide-area reinforcement requested by Cristian Chivu this summer.
Fee structure still being finalised
Not every outlet agrees on the exact numbers. Fabrizio Romano has reported a €31.5 million fixed fee plus bonuses, while Sky Sport has reported a €30 million fixed fee, €5 million in bonuses and a 10% resale clause. Sport Mediaset places the package closer to €30 million plus €2 million, while Gazzetta dello Sport has reported €31 million plus €4 million.
Whatever the precise split, Inter are moving to solve their right-back conundrum as they search for a replacement for Denzel Dumfries. Sky Italia has described Spence as a primary target to improve Inter’s right side.
The final step is now the medical, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.
