Golden State star and former two-time league MVP Stephen Curry spoke about his new teammate Yaxel Lendeborg earlier this summer, eager to bring the former Michigan Wolverine into the fold. Curry had high praise for Lendeborg and seems to be looking forward to bringing in a new face ahead of the 2026-27 season. “He looks very confident, poised, competitive; he’s a champion, and I’m excited to get out there and figure it out with him. You know, rookies are awesome ‘cause they bring such good energy to the locker room, especially guys with talent like him.” Although Lendeborg may not have the highest upside in comparison to other 2026 NBA Draft prospects Golden State could have selected, his defense and polish should serve him well in Steve Kerr's rotation this year. En route to an NCAA championship last season, Lendeborg averaged 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals.
