During a slow NBA offseason, HoopsHype recently ranked the top 27 point guards heading into the 2026-27 NBA season, and unsurprisingly, Stephen Curry was ranked near the top. After averaging 26.6 points, 4.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 0.3 blocks while shooting 39.3% from 3-point range, Curry was ranked No. 6 at the position.
Tyrese Maxey (76ers), Jalen Brunson (Knicks), Cade Cunningham (Pistons), Luka Doncic (Lakers) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander were the five floor generals ranked above the former Davidson product. Of these five, Curry could possibly outperform Maxey, depending on how much his role is diminished around the new additions of both Jaylen Brown and LeBron James.
That said, the other four will be difficult to pass up, with Doncic, Cunningham and Gilgeous-Alexander firmly in their prime. Although Brunson is entering his age-30 season, he's shown no signs of slowing down, with three straight All-Star appearances and last year's NBA Finals MVP Award.
