VfB Stuttgart is expected to loan Laurin Ulrich to SC Paderborn for the duration of the 2026-27 Bundesliga campaign.
An agreement between the two clubs was reached for the 21-year-old on Friday evening, according to Sky Germany.
Ulrich's medical examination with the newly promoted Bundesliga side is expected to take place shortly.
The youngster looks like a direct replacement for the outgoing Mika Baur who has officially signed for Scottish champions Glasgow Celtic.
Alongside joining Paderborn, Ulrich is also set to extend his contract with VfB Stuttgart by one year, running until summer of 2028.
Several clubs from the first and second divisions were keen on the midfielder, who spent last season on loan at 1.FC Magdeburg.
Ulrich made one professional appearance for Stuttgart in 2022 and has played a further 41 times for the Swabians' second team.
