Sonny Dykes and the TCU Horned Frogs have dismissed safety Jacob Fields from the team, according to Jeremy Clark of 247Sports. This dismissal comes after he violated team rules. "Due to a violation of team rules, Jacob Fields has been removed from our roster and will not be a member of our football team moving forward," read a statement that TCU gave to Clark. Fields transferred to TCU after three strong seasons with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and was expected to be a starter for TCU. The Melissa, Texas product was named the CUSA Co-Defensive Player of the Year last year after recording 92 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, and eight pass breakups. He returned two of his interceptions for touchdowns. He started his career as a safety, but played running back as a freshman in 2023 after Louisiana Tech lost several running backs to injuries. He ended up playing in 11 games, recording 26 carries for 205 yards and two touchdowns. Fields moved back to defense for the 2024 season and had a breakout performance, playing in all 13 games with eight starts. He finished the year with 54 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, six pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. TCU is set to open the 2026 season against the North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday, Aug. 29 in Dublin, Ireland. The game will start at 11 a.m. CT and will be on ESPN.
