Star batter Virat Kohli believes that Royal Challengers Bengaluru have had one of their most intense battles in the Indian Premier League against Chennai Super Kings. The two teams are once again ready to engage in a fierce face-off at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in a night encounter on Sunday, April 05. Kohli feels that there will be a lot of CSK fans, despite the venue being RCB's home ground.
In an old video that has now resurfaced on social media, Kohli can be heard giving his honest admission on the rivalry that the two teams hold. He is also aware that playing against the five-time champions in Bengaluru is a different feeling altogether, as the support for the visiting side is also considerable, with thousands of Super Kings' fans being in attendance.
"One team we've historically had the most intense games against, I feel, is CSK in Bengaluru, because when we play CSK, a lot of Chennai fans turn up here as well. At their stadium, there are just CSK fans everywhere. In Bengaluru, people are welcoming, like, 'Come and see the game.' But in Chennai, it's all yellow; it's like, "We won't let you in,"' Kohli had said in a video by Star Sports India.
"They buy tickets very early and often end up occupying an entire section of the stadium. That creates a unique atmosphere in CSK vs RCB games, with the tension and banter between fans over who is louder. And, of course, the game itself becomes very intense and competitive. That environment, I would say, is the most exciting," the legendary batter added.
RCB have already got off to a flying start in IPL 2026, as they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the tournament opener at Chinnaswamy. CSK, on the other hand, have faced a disappointment in both the fixtures they have played thus far. With the defending champions looking to build winning momentum and the team with five trophies searching for a perfect combination, it will be a mouthwatering clash on Sunday.
