Jamal Musiala sparked concern during Bayern Munich’s 3-1 win over RB Leipzig after going down on the pitch shortly after coming on as a substitute.

The Bayern star had only been on the pitch for around 15 minutes when he suddenly needed medical attention, leaving players and staff around him worried.

Musiala had actually provided a positive moment shortly before the incident, scoring in the 81st minute in front of the Bayern supporters.

Jamal Musiala’s sudden collapse raises questions after Bayern scare

The German eventually managed to get back to his feet and walk off the pitch, although he appeared visibly affected by what had happened.

He was substituted in the 88th minute after receiving attention from the medical teams of both Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl offered some reassurance after the match.

‘The most important thing is that he is fine. There is nothing to say about anything else,’ Eberl said.

According to German newspaper Bild, Musiala experienced sudden dizziness while on the pitch.

The report suggested that temperatures of around 33 degrees Celsius may have contributed to circulatory problems.

That would explain why the incident happened despite Musiala having spent only a short time on the pitch.

However, the timing inevitably brought his recent injury problems back into focus.

Musiala suffered a serious injury during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, including a fracture of the fibula, and was subsequently sidelined for several months.

He eventually returned in January but later suffered another setback involving his ankle. His recovery has since been carefully managed as he works towards regaining his previous level.

That makes any sight of Musiala requiring medical attention particularly concerning for Bayern.

The 23-year-old had only recently returned to group training after spending time following an individual rehabilitation programme. He had also sacrificed a significant part of his summer break to focus on getting back to full fitness.

For now, Bayern’s update is encouraging, with the club confirming that Musiala is doing well after the scare.

The expectation is that he will return to training in the coming days, although his condition will be monitored closely.

After everything Musiala has been through since last summer, Bayern will be hoping this was simply a brief reaction to the heat and not another setback for their star midfielder.
