It was a rough night for Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever as the Dream fell by a final score of 95-91 in overtime after Reese missed an open layup that would have won the game.
To make matters worse for Reese, cameras showed Clark, her longtime rival, laughing at her expense after the heartbreaking missed shot.
Clark Caught Laughing at Reese
With seconds left on the clock and the score deadlocked at 81, Reese caught a rebound just underneath the basket and had a clean shot to win the game.
Unfortunately for Reese, the shot did not fall.
The ball rolled on the rim and was rebounded by Dream forward Naz Hillmon, but she did not have time to get off a clean shot and missed as a result.
After the heartbreaking miss, Reese could be seen hunched over in dejection while getting consoled by her teammates. Clark, however, was enjoying the moment.
As Reese and her teammates expressed their frustration, Clark was caught on camera walking behind them smiling and laughing at Reese’s misfortune.

‘Meme of the Year’
Needless to say, the moment sparked a lot of conversation from fans on social media, esepcially considering the history between the two longtime rivals.
“Top 1 gif of all time,” wrote Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy.
“The Gif that keeps on giving. Reese blowing the bunny and Caitlin cheesing,” wrote Indiana Fever content creator Ken Swift in a post on X.
“Sometimes life happens the way it’s supposed to, especially with these two,” wrote Hall of Fame sportscaster Linda Cohn in a post.
Barstool Sports personality Rico Bosco simply reacted with three crying-laughing emojis.
“Angel Reese missed a wide open lay up to win the game and Caitlin Clark laughing behind her as she reacts to the miss is going to be a meme for a long time,” wrote Clay Travis of OutKick.
“Caitlin with the meme of the year,” wrote Rachel DeMita of Courtside Club.
“Caitlin Clark laughing at the Dream after Angel Reese missed a layup to win at the buzzer… The RIVALRY is alive,” wrote DraftKings in a post on X.
It has been a back-and-forth rivalry between Clark and Reese going back to their time in college. This time, though, it was Clark who got the last laugh – literally.
