The Tennessee Titans finished off their third week of training camp with a practice following their 19-13 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in preseason action. While the game was a bit uneven and some key players struggled, it was a great building block for the Titans.
While some of the players who struggled, specifically Cam Ward and Cor’Dale Flott, aren’t in jeopardy of losing their starting roles, they definitely will have to pick it up if Tennessee wants to start progressing. Because they aren’t in danger, they won’t be listed in this stock report, but their stock would definitely be down.
Here's a look at the players who are rising or falling in the training camp stock report.
Stock up: G Fernando Carmona
Carmona has not only worked his way into the conversation to be the starting right guard, but the rookie should also be considered the front-runner after an outstanding week of practice. Carmona more than held his own starting the first preseason game of his career, and could lock up the role sooner rather than later.
Stock down: G Cordell Volson
Volson was not good against the 49ers and often looked overmatched by the reserves on the defensive front. The frontrunner for the starting right guard position entering training camp, he is now likely fighting to even make the roster.
Stock up: T JC Latham
Latham took a significant step forward in this matchup and, along with Carmona, took advantage of their opponent, looking like a potential cornerstone on the offensive line. The Titans ran the ball well all evening and looked really good with the starters playing.
Stock down: T Austin Deculus
As good as Latham was, Deculus was the polar opposite and struggled tremendously in his limited snaps. Couple that with being ejected early in the joint practice for fighting, and it was not a good week for the veteran tackle.
Stock up: K Joey Slye
Slye bounced back in a big way after struggling throughout the early portions of camp, and had a perfect road trip, and kicked the Titans to victory.
Stock down: LB Dorian Mausi
Mausi struggled both on defense and on special teams against the 49ers, and must take a step forward this week if he wants to have any chance at making the roster.
Stock up: Edge Femi Oladejo
Seeing his first real action since breaking his leg during his rookie season, Oladejo looked like a perfect fit for Robert Saleh’s defense. Oladejo was a force against the run and has started to flash as a pass rusher.
Stock down: QB Will Levis
It’s debatable whether or not the poor offensive line play impacted his performance against the 49ers in the preseason game, but it’s clear he may need a change of scenery to be able to regain some footing in the NFL. Levis struggled all week in practice, and the game has gone the wrong way in his battle to be Cam Ward’s backup.
