LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KTSM) — New Mexico State redshirt senior wide receiver TK King is back in Las Cruces and preparing for his second season with the Aggies.

King emerged as one of NMSU's top playmakers last season despite missing the first four games of the year. Once he got on the field, he quickly made an impact, finishing second on the team in receptions (41), receiving yards (588) and receiving touchdowns (3).

King also provided plenty of highlight-worthy moments, including a catch against Liberty that earned the top spot on ESPN's SportsCenter Top 10.

Now, King enters the 2026 season with a bigger role and higher expectations. He has also switched his jersey number from No. 12 to No. 1.

This season marks King's second year with New Mexico State after previous stops at Wyoming and Texas Tech. It is the first time in his collegiate career that he has remained at the same school for a second season.

"I think in today's age of football, it's about doing what's best for you," King said. "Transferring out of Texas Tech and Wyoming was best for me. This is where I want it to be. I let it be known to the coaches and to my teammates. The coaching staff — they made it happen, so I'm still here and I'm proud to be Aggie this year."

With a full 12-game regular season ahead of him, King is expected to be one of the Aggies' top targets in the wide receiver room.

"We feel like he's arguably our most explosive guy on offense, so he needs to have a big year," NM State football head coach Tony Sanchez said. "We got find ways to get him the ball, but we need to hit the ground running right away, week one, getting the ball in his hands. Let him make plays."

King and New Mexico State opens the 2026 season Saturday, Aug. 29, on the road against Florida State.
