Scottie Scheffler posted a second-round 61 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship on Friday to take a commanding lead into the weekend.
Fleetwood has played some great golf too, shooting rounds of 66 and 68, but he trails Scheffler by five strokes with two rounds left to play.
The 35-year-old Englishman hasn’t won on the PGA Tour this season, and he will have his work cut out at TPC Southwind this weekend if he is to change that.
Scottie Scheffler was in imperious form on Friday at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, and Tommy Fleetwood and co. will have an incredibly difficult task on their hands if they are to catch him.

Scheffler’s 61 on Friday at the FedEx St. Jude saw him take total control of the tournament.
Now it will be up to the likes of Fleetwood to go out there on Saturday and put as much pressure as possible on the world number one.
Tommy Fleetwood says if he can catch Scottie Scheffler at the FedEx St. Jude
Fleetwood spoke to reporters after shooting a second-round 68 at TPC Southwind on Friday.
The Englishman was asked how the challenge changes for him when it is the world number one golfer whom he has to chase down over the weekend in Memphis.
“It’s so cliche to say you can’t do anything about it, isn’t it? It’s sort of a boring answer, but what can we do about Scottie Scheffler? Just go out there and try to manage your game as best as possible. Shoot the best score you can and see what happens,“ Fleetwood said.

“I think in general in the world of golf Scottie is a great person to chase, whether it’s a tournament this week or because he’s the best golfer in the world, and you can all look up to him and try to chase him.
“He just happens to be up there again, and we’ll see what we can do over the weekend.“
Given the form that Scheffler is in, Fleetwood will most likely have to shoot two rounds of 65 or better if he is to have any chance at all of winning in Memphis this weekend.
Tommy Fleetwood’s stats through two rounds at the FedEx St. Jude
Fleetwood’s game is in great shape this week in Memphis.
The 35-year-old is ranked 3rd in strokes gained off the tee, 27th in strokes gained approach and second around the green.
However, the one part of his game that hasn’t been in tip-top shape this week is his putting.
The Englishman is ranked 51st in strokes gained putting, having lost 1.022 strokes to the field on the greens.
That will definitely have to change if Tommy Fleetwood is to have any chance of catching Scottie Scheffler at the FedEx St. Jude Championship over the weekend.
