Tottenham Hotspur Are In Concrete Talks To Sign This Liverpool Winger: Good Option For De Zerbi?

In a recent post on X, journalist Florian Plettenberg claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are in concrete talks to sign Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo. It has been mentioned that Spurs are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Dutch talent in this transfer window.

Gakpo’s Impressive Form In English Football

Gakpo enjoyed a decent run of form at the Merseyside club in the previous campaign when he produced a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 27-year-old scored nine times and picked up six assists in 52 matches for the Reds last season in various competitions.

The Dutch talent is currently among the best wide players in the Premier League. Therefore, it is no wonder that Spurs are in the running to sign him in this transfer period.

His current contract at the Merseyside club will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for Tottenham to land him on the cheap this off-season.

Will Gakpo Be A Good Option For Tottenham Hotspur?

Gakpo is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has the vision to orchestrate some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the wide positions.

The Dutch talent is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as a centre-forward if asked to do so. Gakpo has already proven himself to be a good performer in the Premier League. Hence, it makes sense for Spurs to get a deal done for him this summer.

We can expect Gakpo to bring more quality and depth to Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi’s frontline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

At 27, Gakpo has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent option for Spurs to consider this summer. Therefore, De Zerbi would be wise to try everything they can to lure him to North London before the end of this transfer window.
