TYLER, Texas (KETK) -- Big day on the campus of Tyler Junior College, where the Apaches officially introduced their new head baseball and golf coaches.
On the diamond, Trevin Sonnier takes over as the Apaches' fifth head baseball coach.
Sonnier, who played college ball at four different schools, including TCU and Panola, comes to Tyler after three seasons as head coach at Howard College.
During his time at Howard, Sonnier coached 41 players who went on to compete at four-year programs, including 24 who signed with DI programs.
Sonnier guided the Hawks to a winning record all three years, and the Nederland native also coached at Abilene Christian, Oral Roberts, and Dallas Baptist, after playing two seasons of pro ball.
He's ready to continue the winning tradition of TJC baseball.
Sonnier says TJC has long been his dream job, and he and his family are excited to pour into the Tyler community.
