The Green Bay Packers got back to work over the weekend, holding a pair of practices following their preseason opener last Thursday. Saturday’s practice was closed to the public while Sunday’s was open, and there was no shortage of news coming out of the team’s facilities over the last 48 hours.
First, and most encouraging, is the fact that Tucker Kraft is back participating in team drills, doing so for the first time since returning from his torn ACL. Kraft even scored a touchdown in his first team action on Sunday, and although he expects to be on restricted reps for the first part of the season (scroll down for more on that), he’s ready to start making an impact.
Keisean Nixon, meanwhile, seems unhappy about his situation on the depth chart. That’s how it sounds, at least, but his complaints seem odd given that he has only rotated out of the starting lineup a handful of times in practice. Maybe the team needs to just give him a little bit more clarity with why he’s rotating out here and there; or maybe it’s just Keisean being Keisean and finding a way to motivate himself through perceived disrespect.
Finally, Sunday’s practice was a big one for several young members of the secondary, as the unit picked up multiple interceptions against the first- and second-string offenses. We look at all of that and more in today’s curds.

Although there were several interceptions on the day, the offense made plenty of nice plays of its own. In particular, rookie J. Michael Sturdivant had a few big plays, including a 40-yard touchdown that saw him run away from the defense after a crossing route.

The interior of the defensive line was a mess at the end of last season. Now it seems that the Packers have a lot more depth — and quality depth, at that.
From saying he’s being ‘punished’ to vowing to ‘attack’ latest ‘challenge,’ Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon faces questions | Channel 3000
Nixon has always made a living out of being underestimated, so maybe this is just his way of motivating himself. After all, there have only been a couple of times all summer when he hasn’t been on the field with the number one defense, as Jason Wilde notes in detail here.
NFL Future Power Rankings: 2027-29 projections for 32 teams | NFL.com
The Packers rank 7th here, but it feels very odd for an analyst looking at this team for the 2027 season and beyond to focus on Micah Parsons’ return in 2026.

It’s interesting that Kraft expects to be on a pitch count, but it makes some sense since he barely ever left the field once he took over the starting job. But can the Packers find a capable in-line tight end to fill in for him for, say, 20 snaps per game?
