Two of Liverpool’s biggest home games this season have been rescheduled as new dates confirmed

Two more Liverpool fixtures during the autumn have been rescheduled for live TV coverage.

The Reds will begin their Premier League campaign with a visit to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle next Sunday at 4:30pm, with just one of their first five top-flight matches this season staying in the traditional Saturday 3pm slot (at home to Fulham on 12 September).

On Monday afternoon, the Premier League confirmed updates fixture details for all four October matchweeks, during which Anfield will play host to two of its biggest games of the entire campaign.

New dates and times for home games v Man City and Arsenal

As per liverpoolfc.com, Liverpool will now face Manchester City on Sunday 11 October and Arsenal on Sunday 1 November, both with a 4:30pm kick-off and both chosen by Sky Sports for live coverage in the UK.

The Reds’ two league games in between those fixtures against the top two from 2025/26 both remain in their original Saturday 3pm slot, with Iraola’s team away to Brentford on 17 October and then hosting Brighton on 24 October.

Two big chances for Iraola to make a huge statement at Liverpool

It comes as no surprise that the Man City and Arsenal games have been moved to 4:30pm kick-offs on the Sunday, which is often Sky Sports’ preference for what’d be deemed the ‘standout’ fixture from a Premier League weekend.

The visit of Enzo Maresca’s side is the first game back for both teams after the modified September/October international window, with the Gunners coming to Anfield just before both teams are in Champions League action later that week.

For Iraola, those two fixtures in particular represent an opportunity to send out a significant statement, either in terms of enhancing early-season momentum (so we hope) or answering his sceptics if the Reds were to make a slow start to their campaign.

Those four weeks after the international break will be among the most frantic periods of Liverpool’s season, with the Man City game being the first of eight matches in 29 days, potentially rising to nine if the Reds are involved in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup (to be played the week commencing 26 October).

That’s when the depth of our squad will truly be tested, and everyone of an LFC persuasion will be praying that the autumn of 2026 fares so much better than last year, when our campaign never recovered from a hideous run of nine defeats out of 12 in all competitions.
